Colchagua
Colchagua is one of Chile’s most prestigious wine regions, where Montes Wines was a pioneer in establishing its vineyards. Situated in the country’s central region, it comprises vineyards in Apalta and Marchigüe, two exceptional terroirs. Apalta’s gentle sun exposure allows for a slow, complete ripening of the grapes, while in Marchigüe, close to the Pacific Ocean, red grapes mature under the influence of cooler temperatures.
APALTA
The unique characteristics and location of the Apalta sub-valley—nestled between the Tinguiririca River and the Apalta hills—provide gentle sun exposure, facilitating the grapes’ slow and complete maturation. Its varied topography includes gravelly soils studded with rounded river stones and zones of mountain scree, with depths that change according to elevation.
